The Elven Unification
The following is an extract from an Elven writer, named Alverrine van Icara, in his now infamous account known as Truest Elven History. Commissioned by royalty, it has of course found itself under the scrutiny of the equally infamous, if not sanctioned, compendium known as Deverrin’s History. This the entry that places the book under the title of contraband within the Elven kingdom.
“The Great and Wise King then looked over his beautiful Elven Kingdom, now united in stability, culture and harmony, and in his generosity sought to bring the same influences over the other races granted now unto the Elves, people of the Gods: so, envoys from the glorious army of the Elves, resplendent in wrought gold, went to inform the other races of their new ruler’s wise and splendid decision, so that they could rejoice. However, no sooner did the Elves arrive at the locations of the lesser beings did they weep, for the savages were unfit to accept the olive branch they were offered. So with deep grief in their hearts the Elves set to disciplining the rabble. The battle for Enlightenment is still ongoing.”
--A footnote from Deverrin. This is the poor excuse for history that is circulated around the royal family that gives the Kings and Queens their usual entitled manner and the obsequious courtiers the opportunity to simper at the barefaced lies the nobility spout in histrionic speeches. In case that needed a little context. Oh, and the offhand mention that the battle is still ongoing? To translate the Elven vagueness, that means they lost. Thirteen border skirmishes with covert armies looking to besiege towns and citadels – armies armoured with more steel than gold, I might add – were fought between guerrilla combatants, with the Elven attackers looking to swiftly gain a chokehold on enemy supply lines. These skirmishes were turned in the favour of those the Northern Elves fought by the Tygoshi raiders, who left shortly after their brief alliance with the several besieged towns to deal with more pressing threats at home: the Elves had only been a priority to them for as long as their sieges had a chance of creating a military power that would threaten their own lands. The Elves after this have worked upon internal infrastructure – and elected to create a government of advisors to warn the recent royal family against such folly as their ancestors.
